|What value do you bring in your role?
I feel the most value I can bring is bridging the gap between high-level management requirements and the granular technical detail which lies within the solution. I ensure that all parties within a team understand explicitly what actions are to take place throughout project delivery which allows me to play a fundamental part to the success the project.
What’s the most challenging part of your role?
The most challenging part of my role is that no two client placements are identical, each have their own controls, strategies and procedures. I have learnt to be flexible and adaptable to fit into the environment I am working in. A technique that worked at one client site is not necessarily fit for purpose at another, therefore I have developed a toolbox of techniques I can draw upon, adapting if necessary, to apply to the given project, thus ensuring client requirements are always met. This has allowed me to grow as a consultant and be innovative in the solutions I provide to clients.
What has been your greatest achievement so far in your career with Business Data Partners (BDP)?
On a recent project, myself and a colleague implemented a best practice approach to tackling different issues occurring throughout the business using our consultancy expertise. We highlighted, documented and prioritised all known issues and developed a strategy to tackle each issue in turn. This enabled business as usual activity to resume as a priority. Our planning, issue flagging and problem resolution had a quick turnaround allowing the client to transition from “firefighting” issues daily to working through a standardised workstack. Our work received outstanding feedback and gave myself and my colleague a great sense of achievement.
If you had a lottery win, what would you do?
If I had a windfall, I would love to own a cinema or gym; maybe even a combination of the two! I cannot think of anything more motivating than trying to set a new PB on the bench press while watching re-runs of Rocky.
