||Why did you apply to Business Data Partners (BDP)?
After completing my dissertation which revolved heavily around data analysis and manipulation I found myself in a position where I knew this is an area I would love to have a career in. I happened to meet a couple of BDP employees at a data conference and after speaking to them, I applied.
How did you find the recruitment process?
The recruitment process is surprisingly interesting and enjoyable for what you would expect. You get an opportunity to converse with the consultants and get a look into their day-to-day lives. There is plenty communication throughout and feedback at each stage. The personal touches at each stage were the most memorable, irrelevant of the result, you are given fantastic feedback and support throughout.
What has been your greatest achievement so far in your career with BDP?
I feel my greatest achievement so far is my initial role and progression on-site. I have been a part of 3 different projects, 2 mostly ad-hoc and 1 agile project. In each of these projects, I had to use technology and data, which I have never seen before, and apply my learnings to a product. Each of these projects was delivered in a timely manner and the stakeholders were all very impressed with my ability to learn about technologies I have never used so quickly and applied them.
What do you like most about your role?
The fact that every day is different. One week you could be working on an analytics dashboard then the next week you can be working on a Teradata project where you are analysing different projects. I get to learn so many different technologies and apply my learnings to real-time environments where the analysis has an impact. The fact the work I complete has an impact makes it incredibly enjoyable.
What advice would you have for anyone unsure about applying?
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure about applying in the first place because I wasn’t sure what to expect. Sometimes you just have to dive in and take a chance, you might end up with me and love what you do! I don’t regret applying, I’ve learned a lot already and I know I will learn so much more.
